MSET
Privacy Policy for Mset
This Privacy Policy explains how Mset (Monthly Salary & EMI Tracker), developed by Akshay, handles information when you use the app.
- Mset is a local-first budgeting app. Your salary, balance, EMI, subscription, calendar, transaction, and savings data are stored on your device, not on our servers.
- Mset does not require an account and does not provide cloud sync in this version.
- If you enable reminders or add widgets, some financial information may appear in notifications or on your home screen.
- Mset uses Google AdMob to show ads on supported mobile platforms. Google may collect device and advertising-related data under its own policies when ads are requested or displayed.
1. Information You Provide
Depending on how you use Mset, you may enter or create the following information inside the app:
- salary amount, salary day, and current balance;
- EMI, subscription, deduction, income, and expense names, amounts, dates, durations, and status information;
- transaction history and manual transaction descriptions;
- savings goal names, target amounts, saved amounts, and planned monthly contributions;
- optional notes or reasons you add when recording significant balance changes;
- preference data such as currency, theme, reminder time, and reminder message templates.
Mset does not require account registration and does not ask for bank login credentials, payment card numbers, government ID numbers, contacts, photos, microphone data, camera data, or precise location.
2. Device Information and Permissions
Mset uses a limited set of device information and permissions to power app features:
- Notification permission: used to show local reminder notifications for upcoming or due deductions when you enable reminders.
- Time zone information: used locally so reminder notifications fire at the correct local time.
- Boot/restart access on Android: used to restore scheduled local reminders after a device restart.
- Vibration on Android: used for notification delivery behavior supported by the operating system.
Mset does not request precise location, contacts, photos, microphone, or camera permissions in this version.
3. Widgets and On-Device Visibility
If you add Mset widgets, the app writes selected summary information to widget-accessible local storage on your device so the widgets can stay updated.
That information can include:
- current balance;
- salary countdown;
- next due item name, amount, and due label;
- upcoming deductions shown in widget rows;
- calendar state markers for weekly and monthly views.
If you enable reminders, notification content can also include item names, amounts, dates, and due-state messages. Widget and notification content may be visible on your home screen or lock screen depending on your device settings.
4. Advertising and Third-Party Services
Mset uses Google AdMob to display banner and interstitial ads on supported mobile platforms. When ads are requested, loaded, or shown, Google and its partners may collect information under their own privacy policies.
This may include information such as:
- device identifiers and advertising identifiers where available;
- IP address and approximate location inferred from IP address;
- ad impressions, clicks, and app interaction information;
- device, network, and diagnostic information.
Mset itself does not use a separate analytics or crash reporting SDK in this version. However, third-party advertising providers may process data to deliver, measure, personalize, or improve advertising according to their own terms and privacy practices.
Relevant third-party policies:
5. How Information Is Used
Mset uses information to:
- store and display your financial planning data inside the app on your device;
- calculate salary cycles, due dates, reminders, forecasts, history, and savings progress;
- generate local reminder notifications if you enable them;
- update home-screen widgets if you choose to use them;
- show ads that support the free version of the app;
- respond to you if you contact us for support.
6. Where Your Data Is Stored
Your budgeting and planning data is primarily stored locally on your device using app storage. Mset does not provide account-based server storage or cloud sync in this version.
If you use widgets, a subset of your data is also stored in widget-accessible storage on your device. If you enable reminders, reminder content is handled by your device's local notification system.
7. Data Sharing
We do not sell your budgeting data and we do not share it with data brokers.
Information may be shared or made available only in limited cases:
- with service providers you choose to interact with through the app, such as Google AdMob for ads;
- with platform-level services needed to deliver app functions such as notifications, widgets, app distribution, or device-managed backup features;
- if disclosure is required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, or the integrity of the app.
8. Data Retention
Data you enter into Mset remains on your device until you edit it, delete individual items, clear app storage, or uninstall the app. Third-party providers such as Google may retain information they receive according to their own policies.
If you contact us by email, we may retain that correspondence as long as needed to respond and keep support records.
9. Your Choices
- You can disable reminder notifications in Mset or in your device settings.
- You can remove Mset widgets from your device at any time.
- You can edit or delete many saved items directly inside the app.
- You can remove locally stored data by uninstalling the app or clearing app storage through your device settings.
- You can manage advertising preferences through your device or Google controls where those options are available.
10. Security
We rely primarily on operating system protections, app sandboxing, and your device security settings to protect locally stored information. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
Mset is not designed to store highly sensitive secrets such as bank passwords, payment card numbers, or government-issued identifiers, and you should not enter that type of information into free-text fields.
11. Children's Privacy
Mset is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly solicit personal information from children.
12. International Processing
If you use third-party services such as Google AdMob, information processed by those services may be handled on servers located in countries other than your own, subject to their policies.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version and revise the last-updated date above.
